REVIEWS

Christina has such a wonderful eye and a love of food and flowers that comes through in her work. I've purchased gorgeous cards and prints for myself and as gifts, and I like the variety of sizes that are available. Her skill, artistry and joy are captured in each piece.

Virginia

Christina has an incredible eye for color, detail and arrangements. She manages to create images fit for any occasion or mood. The whimsy of some of her work (miniature people with food) always makes me smile; and the her current flower series is simply captivating. I love that she is bringing her years of professional training to creating such beautify images - somehow she captures the magic in the moment.

I knew when I saw it at the gallery that it had similar colors, but didn’t realize that the color scheme would tie together so well with our walls, floor, and furniture! At any rate, I’m really looking forward to enjoying and showing your artwork off to guests.

Brian

My mom loved the peony photograph. She opened it on Christmas day and said, "Oh my, this is gorgeous!" It's now up on her wall where she can enjoy the photo and the memories it evokes of her grandfather, who grew an abundance of peonies in his small garden. Thank you!

Linda

Christina brings her expert photography skills to her new 'fine art' line and the photos are just gorgeous. Check them out!

So, Doug bought me two pieces of Christina's art for Christmas: roasted, multi-colored carrots. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see that pop of color when I turn the corner into the dining room. Cheerful, homey, and looks delicious: just like we hope our home and hospitality are!

My floral obsession started a long time ago.

When I was very little my mom would take me to Longwood Gardens. If you are not familiar, let me tell you words alone cannot describe how incredible this place is but simply put, it has one of the largest collections of plants and flowers from around the world in one place.

As a little girl, Longwood was like a fairytale. One of the most impactful sections of the gardens is their famous Flower Garden Walk. In the spring, just imagine 10’s of 1000’s of tulips and daffodils in bloom all packed into this huge walkway.

Everywhere you look, you would see flaming bright punches of purples and pinks - or whatever their color theme was for the year. You never forget it.

It takes your breath away every year. All around you all you hear is people say, “wow!!!, ooooh wow! Look at that one!”.

Longwood Gardens inspired me to start photography.

My father liked photography and he taught me how to use his camera when I was 8. Naturally I started taking his camera to Longwood to photograph all the beauty there and that’s when I started taking pictures of flowers.

That’s when this floral obsession started.

Longwood Gardens would always try to outdo itself with their incredible displays. Every time you go to visit, you see something new and beautiful like a huge flowering cactus that only blooms once every 17 years.

I would always bring my camera to practice my photography on these spectacles.

In the spring you would have the amazing pink cherry tree blossoms, the incredible tulips and daffodils, an enormous selection of hydrangeas and lilies, powerful lilac bushes and 100’s of other cultivars that you possibly have never seen before.

This certainly became my happy place and still is to this day.

When I was 16 my father asked me what I wanted to do for a living. My answer was that I wanted to be a photographer.

Well, he freaked out quite frankly. “Noooo! You can’t do that!” He said. “Photography is a hobby, not a career."

He wanted me to be a chemist and take over his studies at Hewlett Packard (HP was originally a scientific instrument company, not a printer company).

He went on to explain the reason he got me into photography was not for the art of photography but to learn about the chemistry of it. He thought he was grooming me to be a chemist.

You see he got me all set up with my own little darkroom with an enlarger that HP was throwing out when I was 12. Though he never told me these were his plans, I think he just thought I would figure that out.

When I told him I wanted to be a photographer, he told me that he wouldn’t pay for my college and if that’s what I wanted to do, I was on my own.

So, I moved out at 16 years old and got an apartment on Main Street with 4 other girls who were going to the local university. This gave me the freedom to do all kinds of photography.

Not doing photography for a living was not an option for me. It was all I knew and I loved it. My dad’s reaction did scare me though and gave me a lot of self doubt.

This made me very scared of trying to do fine art photography as a sole source of income so I figured I would learn to do commercial photography instead and just do the fine art on the side.

I ended up getting two college degrees and became a successful food photographer for over 30 years in the Los Angeles area.

I really do love all the things about photography and so now with my fine art work I have taken my technical expertise and I use that to create my floral arrangements and photograph them in my studio.

My photography world has now come full circle. What got me excited about photography in the first place is now my inspiration for what I am photographing full time.

And so the Floral Obsession Collection was born.

If you got this far, thank you for reading! You might be wondering if my relationship with my father got any better - it didn’t. He was always very angry with my career choice and quite honestly was waiting for me to fail so I could prove him right, which I’m proud to say never happened.

INTRODUCING THE FLORAL OBSESSION

The Floral Obsession contains 4 pieces of photographic art with each presenting a stunning arrangement reminiscent of the old great European painting masters. Yes, these are photographs, not paintings.

By hanging these in your room, you will be adding a little floral garden that will always be there when you need it.

Each of the flower portraits will shift your mood and give you a sense of peace and calm as if you are looking at flowers in your own backyard.

Why am I giving away art?

No, I'm not crazy, hear me out.

Pablo Picasso once said, "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."

I believe that to my core.

Giving away this collection for free does a lot of things. It helps get my name out there in the fine art world and gets my artwork into as many homes as possible.

But there's one other reason that is the most important to me.

Did you know there was a study done in 2005 by Rutgers University proving that looking at flowers actually triggers those happy chemicals in your brain!

Giving away this collection is my way of giving you a little bit of happiness to hang on your wall. Even a picture of flowers does the same thing, by the way.

So if my art connects with you and gives you a little dose of happiness in this crazy world, that would just make my day and make all this worth while. And hey, maybe nextime you are looking for more art, you'll think of me.
